By Mitchell Banks The Tribune A 38-year-old Croth- ersville woman was arrested Wednesday for dealing methamphet- amine out of her residence and other drug charges, police report. Ashley Denise Chapman was arrested after an investiga- tion by a narcotics officer with the Jackson County Depart- ment, according to a news release from the department. The investigation came after a narcotics officer received informa- tion that illegal drugs were being sold from residence on U.S. 31 just north of Crothersville. The officer reported buying methamphet- amine from Chapman with the assistance of narcotics detectives from the Seymour Police Department.

A search warrant signed by Jackson Superior Court II Judge Bruce MacTavish was executed Wednesday by the narcotics officers with the assistance of Crothersville Police De- partment and Jackson County officers. During the search, officers reported finding methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including plastic bags, measured scooping devices, fun- nels and scales. That led police to believe Chapman was dealing from her residence. She was home at the time of the search. Chapman was ar- rested and faces a preliminary Level 4 felony charge of dealing methamphetamine, a Class misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana and a Class misdemeanor charge of paraphernalia.

She was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday and is being held without bond pending her initial hearing. A Level 4 felony car- ries a prison sentence of two to 12 years if convicted. The advisory sentence is six years. Assisting with the investigation and arrest include county offi- cers Zach Elliot, Clint Burcham and Cy Moss, Crothersville Police Chief Matt Browning, Crothersville Officer Jonathon Tabor and the Seymour Police detective division.
