It had been planned to have a big public dance on Central Avenue Friday night but the Commissioners decided this -would not be a.
good thing. "Who is to pass on the tango and decide whether, or not it is objectionable or what the tango is has not been settled. The Mayor contented himself with forbidding the tango and ad- mitted that he did not know what the tango is and would not recognize it if saw it danced. The other Commissioners are just as ignorant on the subject and the police say they are tiot wise to the modern dances. The ball tonight had been advertised as a modern affair, with all the latest dances, and a special prize for the best tanen danoers.
